Spotify Korea is celebrating its first anniversary!

Last February, the streaming platform made its debut in the country and launched several initiatives to further promote Korean artists and music across the world.

In the last year, Spotify Korea has seen over 7.97 billion global streams per month on K-pop, as well as a traffic of over 1.43 billion to their K-pop hub, the platform's one-stop destination for all things Korean music.

Additionally, in a report made on 14 February, Spotify Korea revealed that the top 10 countries that discovered new Korean artists were the United States, India, Brazil, Indonesia, Mexico, Germany, UK, Philippines, Japan, and France.

With the launch of Spotify Korea, local artists have also seen an increase in global recognition with acts like LeeHi featured as the first Korean act on the cover Spotify's Holiday Singles playlist and Audrey Nuna's cover of G-DRAGON's 'XX' being the first Korean song released as part of Spotify Singles.

Moreover, the registration for Korea's 'Spotify for Artists' platform grew by 42.4% compared to their pre-launch figures. While the use for Spotify Canvas grew by 254%.

“As a committed global partner to Korean artists, creators, industry partners, and more, we will continue to support the growth of the Korean music-streaming ecosystem and offer more opportunities for Korean artists to be connected with more listeners around the world,” said David Park, Managing Director of Spotify Korea. “This is just the beginning.”
