To celebrate the fourth anniversary of naming their fandom, Stray Kids dropped a new single 'Mixtape: Time Out' on 1 August across all streaming platforms. This "surprise for their fandom" is completed by a music video released on the same day as the single.

With both the video and the single depicting a light and fun vibe, 'Time Out' was inspired by the group's vacation in Gangwon-do. The track opens with the sound of waves, apparently recorded by the members during the trip, and continues with a crisp guitar riff, lighthearted lyrics, and even Seungmin's laugh at one point.
The new song is the latest addition to the Mixtape project that the group has been working on since 2019. This is the fourth track they have included in the project, following 'Mixtape: A Child' (2021), 'Mixtape: Even A Fool Knows' (2020), and 'Mixtape: Gone Days' (2019). Music and lyrics were written by Bang Chan, Changbin, and Han (also of hip-hop sub-unit group 3RACHA).
'Mixtape: Time Out' conveys the message of releasing one's self from worries, relaxing, and having fun—a message that the group would like to share with STAY, especially on a special day for both the artists and fans alike. The release of this new song seems to be a great culmination after their recently concluded world tour and after being crowned winners of the Billboard Fan Army in July.
Stray Kids made waves last March when their new album ODDITY debuted at No. 1 on Billboard 200 and Top Album Sales charts.
