This is the first time MAMA has fully gone digital for the audience. Despite that, the ceremony hosting its 22nd edition still flaunts a stellar lineup of performers, including the likes of BTS, GOT7, IZ*ONE, MAMAMOO, MONSTA X, NCT, SEVENTEEN, TXT, TREASURE, and TWICE, at the new virtual space ‘NEW-TOPIA’, for a reinvented experience during the time of the pandemic.

Nominees have also been announced, building up the anticipation to the event for fans and artists alike. On the list of nominees are BTS, IU, HYUKOH, TWICE, EXO, BLACKPINK, and many more.

In a press release, Poshu Yeung, Vice President of Tencent IBG, said, “K-Pop is growing stronger than ever as a pop culture phenomenon. Not only is JOOX proud to be delivering MAMA, the most sought-after K-Pop annual event, straight to K-Pop fans’ hearts and minds for the 5th consecutive year, we are also glad to be continuously expanding our music library and karaoke catalogue with the hottest K-Pop tracks.”

As a music app, JOOX currently has more than 30 million songs in its music library from all over the world, connecting listeners to their favourite artists, songs, albums, and playlists. In September, they rolled out their newest ‘Quick Sing’ feature, which allowed for sing-alongs to pre-selected chorus parts or any particular verse of the song.
