The feelings you'll feel watching Taylor Swift's 'The Eras Tour' concert film

Estimated:  reading

Instead of singing hymns and praises, a few dozen of us spent our Sunday afternoon at an IMAX cinema with another mother—Taylor Swift in all her 4K glory—for The Eras Tour concert movie.

It was the second weekend of screenings and our Editorial Director, Camille Castillo, who caught the concert film during the opening weekend, told me that I would cry. I'd braved a light drizzle in my best (pink) dress, fearless, knowing that wouldn't happen. I was wrong.

Taylor Swift's The Eras Tour concert film will take you on a rollercoaster ride of emotions. This is how I fared.

Welcome to the Eras Tour

The Eras Tour film opens with us soaring through rainbow clouds, taking us on a flight directly to So-Fi Stadium in Los Angeles. Having already read press releases and posts about the show, I already knew that the concert film was shot over multiple nights during Swift's residency in LA, but everything was put together so flawlessly that you forget these bits of trivia and simply allow yourself to experience one perfect concert.

Since there were so few of us in the cinema (it was 12 p.m. after all) and I was far from the groups and couples who came together, I kept to myself and my bag of popcorn. The entire experience is so immersive; it's almost as if you're there in So-Fi Stadium with thousands of other Swifties. I was absolutely stunned.

Why am I crying?

Personally, Lover is in my Top 3 list of Taylor Swift albums, but her opening set didn't bring me to tears just yet. It wasn't until the golden transition to Fearless that I suddenly felt tears streaking down my face. You wouldn't believe how thankful I was that I was sitting all by my lonesome next to the aisle. Those first few notes of 'Fearless' hit me so hard. Was it the innocence of my late teen years coming for me? Was it the thought of me getting my first Taylor Swift album? Was it the recent memory of hearing Fearless (Taylor's Version) for the first time?

I just want to eat my popcorn in peace, Taylor. Damn.

She looks so happy and healthy and I love that for her

From a fan's standpoint, you can only imagine how demanding the touring life is for someone, especially if that someone is Taylor Swift.

Night after night over the span of 146 shows across continents, she has to give more than her all. Performing for three hours is no joke. Her stamina levels are most certainly buffed. It's absolutely insane how she does it, but it doesn't seem to wear her out one bit. She actually looks happier and healthier than she's ever been, standing where she was born to be.

I want to live in Taylor's 'willow' forest

Looking back, I'd have to say 'willow' was one of the highlights of The Eras Tour concert film for me. The set design and the choreography—chef's kiss.

On another note, I would also gladly live in Taylor's folklore cabin.

Wow, these dancers are really hot!!!

All the dancers were fantastic, but there were four dancers who truly had moments that really stuck with me.

First on the list is definitely Jan Ravnik a.k.a Oscar Isaac (Taylor's Version). I think it's impossible to forget him and his manly heart hands at the end of 'We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together'. Next is the absolutely adorable Kameron Saunders. No one else on that stage served sass the way he did as he repped plus size people. Then there's Whyley Keolaokalani Yoshimura, Taylor's fella over there with the hella good hair. And lastly, Karen Chuang. She may have been the smallest dancer in the crew, but her expressions were larger than life.

OMG, there's a bouncer

This wasn't part of the concert itself, but my experience at this particular cinema. The row in front of me was packed with 1989 girlies and when 'Blank Space' came on, they were singing at the top of their lungs. One of them pulled out her phone—flashlight on—for her Instagram Stories. Everyone was dancing and having fun, but cinema security (dressed in black) approached them to stop filming. It was this whole "Pare, pulis ako" moment, without the chase scene.

Aww, a free mini poster

When you walk out of the screening, you'll be handed a Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour mini poster (while supplies last, I guess). It's quite nice, having a little token to hold after the show. Lining up for the merch booth, like at an actual concert, would've been nice though.

Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour is screening in cinemas worldwide until 3 November. Catch it at your nearest cinema and check out the showtimes here.
