If there is anything fans of The Beatles can be thankful for this Thanksgiving, it would most definitely be their new three-part documentary series that is set to stream on Disney+ on the 25th, 26th, and 27th of November.
Directed and produced by three-time Oscar-winning filmmaker Peter Jackson, the upcoming series entitled The Beatles: Get Back gets its name from The Beatles’ 1970 album Let It Be whose working title was originally Get Back.

As Jackson restores nearly 60 hours of unseen footage, and more than 150 hours of unheard audio originally captured by Michael Lindsay-Hogg in his 1970 Let It Be documentary, The Beatles: Get Back chronicles the band’s most intimate moments leading up to their final live performance together at the rooftop of London’s Savile Row.

As Paul McCartney puts it in the trailer: “The best bit of us, always has been and always will be… when we’re backs against the wall.” This statement is indicative of the band’s 1969 recording sessions where their relationship was put to the test when faced with the near-impossible task of writing 14 new songs within a tight deadline.
Although The Beatles did face some tribulations (and George Harrison did quit for a few days), Jackson’s documentary series ultimately proves that, despite the many myths surrounding the band’s final months together, there was much joy and laughter that went into the composition of the world’s most iconic and celebrated songs from Abbey Road and Let It Be.
Be sure to tune in to Disney+ in November to watch the series.
