Even the best performers need a second run but not at The First Take.
Determined to showcase musicians in their truest form, The First Take is an online show that has popular Japanese and Korean acts perform "whatever they want" in one single take. No do-overs, no re-takes. It's do or die. Okay, maybe it's not that serious but in a world full of "let's do that again", the Japan-based show is definitely nerve-wracking.
From K-pop groups like TXT to Japanese acts like YOASOBI, The First Take has had quite the lineup of guests so far. Here are some episodes to check out.
Stray Kids
BANDWAGON TV
Stray Kids are frequent guests of The First Take, having been on three episodes of the show so far. On their first run, they performed the Japanese version of their song 'Slump' followed by 'Mixtape: ON' on their second appearance.
As of now veterans of The First Take, the K-pop group have returned with 'Scars' off of their latest album, NOEASY.
SixTONES
Backed by a string section, a cajón, and a piano, SixTONES take us on a sonically serene ride as they perform a beautiful rendition of 'Imitation Rain'. With vocals and harmonies so top-tier, it's hard to believe this was the group's first and only take.
Nogizaka46's Sakura Endo
Before starting her performance, Sakura Endo shared that 'Kikkake' was a song that she hold dear to heart—having been a song that Nogizaka46 performed at their 10th-anniversary celebration—and in her performance, you see that sincerity transcend over. In just a little over five minutes, the singer takes us on a trip down memory lane, reminding us how far the J-pop group has gotten.
CHAI
Ever eccentric and memorable, CHAI's appearance on The First Take is certainly not one you forget. Clad in matchy pink floral costumes, the band take to the stage a fun and quirky rendition of 'PING PONG' complete with a dance routine you can't help but follow along at home.
SIRUP
SIRUP takes his syrup-like vocals and sound to The First Take, soothing us with live renditions of 'LOOP' and 'Thinkin about us' where the former is accompanied by a piano arrangement made exclusively for the show.
YOASOBI
YOASOBI are no strangers to The First Take, having been one of the show's very first guests. The three-time performing act have never failed to stun audiences with goosebumps-inducing performances. In their latest run at the show, the duo perform 'Gunjo'.
TXT
Despite always expressing how nervous they are before their performances, TXT have always given a performance to remember on The First Take. Whether it's the Japanese version of 'Crown' or 'Force', the group have always stunned viewers.
LiSA
LiSA's a frequent guest on The First Take. If there's anyone that knows the show, it's her. Having been on the show five times now (once with fellow singer Uru), the 'RUNAWAY' hitmaker always impresses.
