The Weeknd has done it again.
On Wednesday (03/10), IFPI announced that The Weeknd won the IFPI Global Digital Single Award for his single 'Blinding Lights', officially naming the track the world's best-selling single of 2020 across all digital platforms—including single track downloads and streams on paid and ad-supported platforms.
BTS, The Weeknd, Billie Eilish, Kenshi Yonezu, and more have the best-selling albums of 2020
'Blinding Lights' was lifted off of The Weeknd's critically acclaimed fourth studio record After Hours, which dropped in March last year. The single peaked at #1 in over 30 countries, became the highlight of a viral TikTok dance challenge, and garnered 2.72 billion subscription stream equivalents globally.
