BTS' 'Permission To Dance' just keeps making history.
Written by Ed Sheeran, the track debuted at number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, giving Sheeran his fourth Hot 100 number 1 hit.
On 23 October, Billboard revealed that the group's feel-good anthem has topped the inaugural Hot Trending Songs charts. Powered by Twitter, the new chart "tracks global music-related trends and conversations in real-time across Twitter," which can be viewed over either the last 24 hours or the past seven days.

A weekly version of the chart—covering activity from Friday to Thursday of each week—will also post alongside @billboard’s other weekly charts online on Tuesdays.

Alongside 'Permission To Dance', four other BTS hits have landed on the chart's top 20 including their collaborative single 'My Universe' with Coldplay at no. 4, 'Butter' at no. 7, and 'Dynamite' at no. 12.
Joining BTS and Coldplay in the top 5 is BLACKPINK's LISA with 'MONEY' and 'LALISA' at no. 2 and no. 3 respectively, and ENHYPEN with 'Tamed-Dashed' at the fifth stop.
aespa's 'Savage', Adele's 'Easy On Me', NCT 127's 'Sticker', and Stray Kids' 'Thunderous' also landed on the Top of Twitter's Hot Trending Chart.

In keeping up with online communities, the charts will be less about what people are listening to, but focus more on what people are talking about on Twitter. The charts are said to "highlight buzz around new releases, award shows, festival moments, and music nostalgia."
The weekly chart will be posted alongside Billboard's other charts every Tuesday.
