Umami Records are celebrating their fifth year of operation with a new live showcase series called #UMAMISOUNDS.
Linying, R&B/funk group Astronauts (who launched their debut EP earlier this year) and upcoming rapper Nikhil Senan will perform at the first edition next month.
#UMAMISOUNDS extends the label's mission to scout for and promote underrated and 'less obvious' musical talent to a wider audience. “We have done [that] over the last four years through the release, distribution and promotion of some great music from this region and beyond," label co-founder Kevin Foo noted in a press release. "2018 will be our first foray in taking that discovery process from the recorded music medium to the live platform through #UMAMISOUNDS.”
