UMI just wrapped up her first Asia tour.

Throughout August, the Japanese-American singer-songwriter has been making her way through the region, meeting and performing for her Asian fans for the very first time. In what has been an long overdue set of shows, the tour has felt like a dream come true for the 'Love Affair' singer.

"It's felt like people have been waiting for a long time to see the show. [I've had people say they've been] listening to me since high school or 'Ive listened to you for four or five years' so it feels like it's like, 'Finally I'm here'. And it feels the same for me, I've been dreaming of being Asia so it feels reciprocal," UMI tells Bandwagon

On her tour, UMI has performed in Bangkok, Tokyo, Manila, Singapore, Seoul, and more, revealing that each city has been some of the most incredible shows she's ever played.

"I feel like every show has its highlight moment, especially towards the end when I noticed everyone's so much more comfortable with each other and comfortable with being loud and expressing themselves. Seeing that it each country has been really fun," says UMI. "But if I had to shout out one particular show, the Manila show was crazy. They were singing so loud, every single song—I think it was louder than any show I've had in America. So that was just a big milestone in my life of like, wow, people have been listening."

Just like every performance she puts on, UMI always brings on a captivating aura of peace and warmth. Wanting her shows to be a safe space to be and vibe out, the singer wants everyone feeling the magic of being in this shared place and time together.

"I always start off my show sharing my intentions. For this tour, my intention has been to share my the happiness that I have inside of me with everyone else, and to leave for everyone to leave the show feeling more connected to each other than when they walked in. So I think that's the most important almost like bringing everybody to the frequency of me, that's my goal," she says.

Whether it's on or off the stage, she tries to create the feeling of home wherever she goes, hoping to that familiar sense of comfort to her fans as well.

"It's a lot of traveling and a lot of different places so [I try to do] things that remind me of home, Especially through my senses of smell, I always have incense and candles and stuff with me," she shares. "I used to have a very serious ritual, like meditate before the show and journal. I realized I was being a little too serious for me but now I just laugh a lot, eat some good food, dance and move my body before I go on. [I just try and be as] happy as possible for I go on."

Before wrapping up her Asia tour, the Bandwagon team caught UMI at her Singapore show. Here's what went down.
