In an Instagram post, Valentina shares the reason behind the album title, PLOY. In Thai, the word means precious gemstone or crystal with healing properties and energies. "I carefully paired a gemstone to each song so each of them can represent a different Ploy, in all the ways you can imagine.

The singer-songwriter also reveals how the album was shaped by her personal experiences with vulnerability in the last couple of years. "The album is the result of a selection of my journals when I've found myself going through all the ups and downs of life."
