SoundLab is an exciting new initiative – and quite literally a residency – spearheaded by Goethe-Institut Malaysia, BorderMovement, Detour Asia, and the Dusun.
Fifteen musicians from Myanmar, Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Singapore, New Zealand, Australia, and Germany were handpicked to stay in the rainforest resort The Dusun in Malaysia to work on music, explore ways to collaborate, create, and connect over the course of 2 weeks.
Singapore's Vandetta, Manila's similarobjects, Vietnam's Nguyen Hong Giang and Malaysia's Darren Ashley were selected to join the collective, and this was the result after a 6-hour jam night:

"We've probably made 20 to 30 songs as a collective by now," said Vandetta. "There's 2 studios set up here, and we've just been making music every day, and jamming on each other's sessions."
The collective is aiming to put out a release soon. For more updates on SoundLab, check out Detour Asia's Facebook page.
