After tripping us out with debut single 'wiik' (as well as his impressive Bandwagon Mix), Singaporean producer Yllis pops up once again with a brand new audio-visual experience entitled 'Parade'. Just as as a piece of music, this track already succeeds as experimental electronic pop exercise - equal parts shimmering sonic futurism and sly philosophical challenge.
But as an experience, the unveiling for 'Parade' has become so much more. In teaming up with independent cross-media graphic designers The Rodina, 'Parade''s exploration of online narcissism becomes engrossing on a visual and a holistic level.
As Yllis himself explains, "It questions the ecstasy of parading the self - duplicating the self or creating the image of the "ideal" self as a means of achieving a sense of value, distinction or immortality. How do we construct our identity in a post-representational digital reality? 'Parade' is a fantasy rainy world, where hearts together with hundreds of other emojis orgasmically fly across the screen."
This is Yllis' second single, taken off his forthcoming ISLAND-01 EP, slated for release in June.
