Almost six years have elapsed since Wormrot’s third full-length album Voices.
Likening themselves to an injured snake lying coiled up and dormant, the three-headed serpent that is Wormrot is now ready to strike again.
Armed with renewed vigour and newfound inspiration, Singapore’s illustrious grindcore trio are back with a brand new studio album Hiss, slated for release on 8 July 2022.

Off the record is their unapologetically pulverising single ‘Behind Closed Doors,’ an apt offering for the band’s first taster of what’s to come.
In speaking about the aforementioned track, guitarist Rasyid stated: “This is our fight song. No nonsense. Hit hard.”
This sort of no-holds-barred attitude has been evident in Wormrot’s prior works which feature their world-class ability to produce the most pummelling grind classics.
If you thought they couldn’t top the trinity that is Abuse, Dirge and Voices, then you’re wrong because this latest instalment sees frontman Arif’s adoption of a new vocal technique, guitarist Rasyid’s experimentation with new effects and songwriting, not to mention extra percussive elements courtesy of Vijesh.
To top it all off, the band has also introduced a whole new palette of sounds that aren’t typical of your usual grindcore act. We're talking nightmarish strings and expansive Avant noise sections from 18-year-old Singaporean violinist Myra Choo.
If you’re a fan of extreme metal and want to experience firsthand what Hiss has to offer, be sure to pre-order their album (CD, vinyl or cassette tape—whichever format you fancy) from Earache records when it drops later today (9 AM GMT/5 AM EDT/2 AM PDT/5 PM SGT).
