With A Hammer follows Yaeji as she threads through the murkiness of sadness and uncertainty. With the help of a metaphorical hammer, she destroys the strict norms and obstacles that have kept her from speaking her truth. She finally meets the self-determination and optimism that lies on the other side of this transforming journey and inspires her listeners to do the same.

In a message to fans, the electronic musician mentioned the album and shared the album art, which was captured by Dasom Han. “I want to begin this album with intent (...) so I started writing a story about me and my hammer.”

Fans have been awaiting a full-length album for a few years now. Prior to this, Yaeji released a few EPs including a two-track EP with OHHYUK, which came out in 2021. Yaeji also announced her first North American tour since the release of her 2020 mixtape WHAT WE DREW 우리가 그려왔던, the prologue to this debut album With A Hammer.

In the same month as the album's release, Yaeji will be playing at this year's Coachella festival.
