Jennie, Lisa, Rosé, and Jisoo will be continuing their activities as BLACKPINK.
According to reports by Korean media, the news was confirmed by YG Entertainment on 6 December, following the expiration of the group's contract last August. "The board has completed a resolution about renewing the contracts with BLACKPINK's four members," YG Entertainment revealed.
BLACKPINK debuted in 2016, and has established themselves as one of the top girl groups of this generation. The group made history by being the first Korean girl group to perform at Coachella in 2019, and made their mark by being the first Korean act to headline the festival. Last month, BLACKPINK members visited Buckingham Palace with South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol and were presented with honorary Member of the Order of the British Empire medals by King Charles. The members were given MBEs for their work in climate change COP26 Advocates for the COP26 Summit in Glasgow 2021.
As individuals, each member has released their own solo music, and represented the top luxury brands in the world. Jisoo and Jennie have also crossed over into the world of acting with Jisoo starring in K-drama Snowdrop and Jennie taking on a role in HBO's The Idol.
