What is one thing PSY, BTS, BLACKPINK, and Justin Bieber have in common? They are all members of YouTube's elite "Billion Views Club (BVC)".

Born after the music video for PSY's smash hit 'Gangnam Style' became the first music video in history to amass a billion views on YouTube in December 2012, the club's membership has expanded significantly over the last decade.

To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the club and the release of the South Korean rapper's viral video, YouTube has announced that it will be honouring PSY, as well as other BVC members, with a custom BVC logo that was designed exclusively for the occasion.

"Being the first artist to reach 1 billion views on YouTube was an extraordinary feeling 10 years ago and it still is today. To have played a role in paving the way for music of all kinds to transcend borders is a true honour,” shared PSY.

Two-time Grammy nominees BTS are among the list of artists who will be honoured. To date, they have six videos that have reached the billion views milestone, including 'IDOL', 'Fake Love', 'DNA', 'Boy With Luv', 'Dynamite', and 'MIC Drop (Steve Aoki Remix)'

In February this year, the video for 'Dynamite' also became the fastest music video from a K-Pop group to reach 1.4 billion views.

Joining BTS are global icons BLACKPINK, who, too, have six videos that have reached a billion views under their belt. These include the music videos for 'How You Like That', 'DDU-DU DDU-DU', 'Kill This Love', 'BOOMBAYAH', 'AS IF IT'S YOUR LAST', and the performance video for 'How You Like That'.

Canadian singer Justin Bieber, who became the second artist to join the BVC with his hit 'Baby', and Colombian reggaeton singer J Balvin are joint holders of the title of "Artist with the most official music video entries in the BVC". Bieber and Balvin have 11 entries each.

Meanwhile, Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Adele's 'Hello' currently holds the record for "Fastest music video to reach 1 billion views" (88 days) while Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee's 2017 song 'Despacito' is still the most viewed music video of all time with a whopping 7.9 billion views.

Other members of YouTube's BVC include Dua Lipa ('New Rules'), Billie Eilish ('Bad Guy'), Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth ('See You Again'), Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars ('Uptown Funk'), Katy Perry ('Roar'), Guns N' Roses ('Sweet Child O' Mine' and 'November Rain'), Shakira ('Waka Waka'), Rick Astley ('Never Gonna Give You Up'), Ed Sheeran ('Shape of You') and more.

YouTube's Head of Catalog Music, Ryan Thornton said: “It's easy to forget just how big a billion really is. If released pre-internet, while it's not the only metric for timelessness, it means the music has traveled through time and the fandom came with it and evolved.”
