There's no one that quite captures the complexity of love like Zack Tabudlo. Whether it's the giddy feelings of speaking to a crush or the gutwrenching ache of unrequited love, the Filipino singer-songwriter makes music that tugs at everyone's heartstrings.
For the last couple of years, we've been treated to a world of pain and bliss as Zack recounts the cloud-nine highs and deepest pitfalls of falling in love with his music. Finding home in millions across the world, his songs speak to everyone's inner hopeless romantic.
We sat down with Zack Tabudlo to talk about being vulnerable in music, connecting with people, and working on one of his latest singles 'Diba'.
Congratulations on the release of ‘Diba’. Tell us more about the story that inspired the track. What was the creative process behind it?
'Diba' was a project I really looked into in terms of going back to a past relationship. wrote something from that which I don't usually do, was in my studio and I got to finish everything lyrically and production wise the same time.

A lot of your music dives into some heartbreaking stories of love and loss, which resonate with so many people across the world. What is it like knowing so many people across the world listen to your music and have your songs sung back to you, especially as you perform overseas?
Heartbreak songs are really felt by people everywhere in the world, it feels amazing though to have these people sing to my songs with them translating it on their own. Amazing feeling and at the same time, you know everyone's human and everyone feels emotions at the end of the day.
Does it ever scare you to be so vulnerable in your music?
It was a thing before for me, but vulnerability and being true to the art of music make people connect with it more. They know you're honest, they can put their hearts to it more.
You have so many gems in your discography. What’s one song you wished more people listened to and why?
Definitely, a song called 'Pero', or 'Diba' actually. 'Pero' was a song I released months ago and millions of people still listened to it on streaming platforms but I do wish more people heard the story of it. 'Diba' is just starting out and I am hoping something of the same thing with it—but it's always just making music and having fun releasing them in the end so, it's still a win-win.
In the last couple of years, you’ve grown to be one of the biggest names in Filipino music. What’s been your favourite memory so far?
Shows and festivals, for sure. Meeting people in them and just having to experience these overwhelming feelings when you step on stage.
In the next couple of years, what do you hope to achieve?
Hopefully, more songs and just overall, more people to meet and collaborate with.
Who are some artists that you’ve been loving lately?
I've been listening to Cian Ducrot recently after I met him a month ago, love his work.
What’s next from you?
Music and big things coming very soon, I'm really excited to share them with everyone.
