Biography
Formed in 2005, The Temper Trap made their debut with their first album Conditions, along with the lead single “Sweet Disposition,” in 2009. Selling almost a million copies worldwide, Conditions earned them a Brit nomination for International Breakthrough Artist and two sell-out UK tours including a trio of shows at London’s Shepherds Bush Empire. Following touring and the success of Conditions, Dougy Mandagi, Lorenzo Sillitto, Jonny Aherne, Toby Dundas and Joseph Greer went on to release their second self-titled album, The Temper Trap, in 2012. The band had written 35 songs but only recorded 15, including singles “Need Your Love”, “Trembling Hands” and “Miracle”. Indonesian-born, Melbourne-raised, London-living front man, Dougy Mandagi was the driving force behind The Temper Trap. “I definitely went through phases where the only place I felt like I belonged was on the road, on the stage, in a bus,” he says. “Being on the road gave me a sense of purpose. I love it and there’s no place I’d rather be, but at the same time it can be lonely. That’s all ammo for me as a lyricist.” Receiving their seal of affirmation when they won the “Best Group” and “Best Rock Album” awards at the 26th Annual Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) Music Awards in 2012, The Temper Trap continues spreading their music on tour in Australia and recently played at Future Music Festival Asia 2013.
