Symphony No. 1 in C minor, Op. 68
Artistic Advisor Wen-Pin Chien leads the National Taiwan Symphony Orchestra in its highly anticipated Singapore debut in a programme showcasing modern Taiwanese compositions alongside classical favourites over two evenings at the Victoria Concert Hall. Veteran bamboo flautist Chung-Shen Chen premiered Shui-Long Ma’s Concerto for Bamboo Flute in 1982 to great acclaim, and he will revisit the work with the NTSO on April 2. The evening also sees the NTSO take on Nan-Chang Chien’s Dragon Dance and Brahms’ First Symphony. 2015 Tchaikovsky Violin Competition top prize winner Yu-Chien Tseng is the soloist for Tyzen Hsiao’s Violin Concerto in D major on April 3. The concert will also feature Yiu-Kwong Chung’s jubilant Festive Celebration and Beethoven’s Seventh Symphony.
