SM Entertainment is heading Singapore's way.

According to a report by CNBC on 1 December (PHT/SGT), the South Korean multinational entertainment company is looking to establish its Southeast Asia headquarters in the city-state in a move to strengthen its presence in the region.

The Seoul-based titan — which is home to K-pop acts such as Red Velvet, Girls' Generation, EXO, SHINee, NCT, and Aespa — also confirmed that it is in the process of employing Singaporean talents and is considering bringing local undergraduates and fresh graduates on board for internship stints.

SM Entertainment also shared that its Singapore office will be tasked with overseeing collaborative efforts in three other Southeast Asian countries — Indonesia, Vietnam, and Thailand — and working with the company's South Korean office on other projects and plans.

Additionally, SM Entertainment has announced that it is planning to set up merchandise stores, cafes, and pop-up exhibitions in Singapore.

Aside from branching out into the Lion City, it has also set its eyes on the Middle East as part of its plans to continue expanding beyond South Korea.
