Ben&Ben might have lit the green a little too early.
Shortly after announcing the name of their official fandom, the Filipino folk-pop act was met with fans around the world stressing how the name "Lights" has already been used by HIGHLIGHT - a K-Pop quartet that debuted under the name Beast in 2009 and continued as HIGHLIGHT from 2017. The group visited Manila in 2010 and 2016. HIGHLIGHT's members are currently undergoing military service.
"From our archipelago, brightness will emanate": Ben&Ben on renaming their fandom Liwanag
Numerous fans took to social media to stress the importance of fandom names in the world of K-Pop—like how BTS stans are called ARMY, BLACKPINK followers are known as Blinks, etc.—and requested Ben&Ben to change the newly found name of their fandom. Ben&Ben previously had a fan-driven community called the Ben&Ben BBs, which dispersed earlier this year.
furthermore, we truly did not realize that it may cause trouble being that Ben&Ben is an OPM band from the Philippines. we hold high respect for K-pop culture and K-pop fandoms.

the band management will settle this matter immediately.

Fans also shared some suggestions for Ben&Ben's official fandom name, including 'Bibingka,' which references their Christmas love song.
@BenAndBenMusic MGA MAMI BAT DI NA LANG "BIBINGKA"??? bilang yun rin naman ang isa sa mga una niyong kanta (sa pagkakaalam ko)
— tia🔻🌈✨ (@mooncrystalhall) September 3, 2020
"hello mga bibingka may bago kaming kanta for you" ganern 🥰🥰🥰 https://t.co/1MvpgfCGCr
I think, we can change it to "Ilaw" or "Liwanag" instead of "Lights"?

ATLEAST THE ESSENCE OF "LIGHTS" IS STILL IN THERE
Ben&Ben heard the cries of LIGHTs online and released a statement, saying they've decided to suspend their chosen fandom name until further notice. "We apologize for the confusion and dismay that this has caused to the parties involved," they write.
LIGHTs showed their thanks by sending messages of gratitude to the band.
Thank you very much, we understand that it must have a special meaning for you, but for us it is since 2017.
