"Who is me?"

This is a question Thai musician Karn Kasidej often asks himself. In trying to find the answers through music, he has chosen its acronym, WIM, as a moniker for his solo project.

Months after his last performance as part of HYBS, WIM is now ready to embark on a brand new journey, exploring sounds and ideas, as an independent artist. Starting with the buoyant track 'Mr. Feelgood,' WIM introduces himself as an easygoing, carefree "Mr. Feelnice' type of guy.

Bandwagon talks to WIM about going solo, discovering himself, and exploring different styles and themes for his debut album.

Hi, Karn! You just debuted as WIM. What's it like being a solo independent artist?

Well, being a solo independent artist is both liberating and challenging.

It’s true that now I have complete creative freedom to explore my sound and ideas without any constraints. On the other hand, it means taking on a lot more responsibility, from production to promotion among other things. But yeah, this is very exciting and new to me. It’s fun though. I really like this version of myself and I’d love to see what’s coming on the way with me being WIM. So far so goood :)

WIM stands for Who is me? In your new journey as WIM, what have you discovered about yourself so far?

The name 'WIM' is a question I constantly ask myself: "Who is me?" This journey has been about self-discovery and expression. I’ve realized that music is my way of exploring different shades of my emotions. It’s been an introspective process but I think I’ve discovered a newfound confidence in my artistic vision and a deeper connection to my creativity. It’s been fascinating to see how my music evolves as I learn more about myself.

You just released your first single, 'Mr. Feelgood,' which you wrote, produced, arranged, and performed by yourself. What was that experience like?

It was a chance to bring my vision to life exactly how I imagined it. The song is inspired by finding positivity in difficult times, and I wanted to share that uplifting vibe with everyone. It was challenging at times, but seeing the finished product and the positive response from my fans made it all worth it. Also, for this song, I got a little help from a friend who co-wrote and co-produced, making this track come to life together with me. Shoutout to Alex (SYPS)

You've teased that this is just the first of your new music, what else can we expect from you in the months to come?

Yes, 'Mr. Feelgood' is just the beginning! In the coming months, you can expect more singles that explore different styles and themes. I’m working on music that delves into various aspects of life and emotions, from upbeat tracks to more introspective ones. For listeners who have been waiting, don’t worry, there will be more vibes coming - both the familiar ones and the new ones! Later in the year, I’ll be releasing my debut album, which I’m incredibly excited about.

It’s going to be a journey through my musical landscape, and I can’t wait to share it with everyone. Stay tuned for more surprises along the way!
