There's absolutely no stopping Jeff Satur. He's making his dreams come true one by one and he's hellbent on it.
It takes a lot of guts to put yourself out there and be vulnerable, but the 'Yellow Leaf' singer is the farthest thing from afraid. Now touring his debut album Space Shuttle No.8 across Asia this month, Satur continues to deliver a piece of himself through every live performance he stages. His presence alone is enrapturing, making hearts race and stunning audiences, as the spotlight veils over him. He demands your full attention and you'll willingly give it as he belts out his high notes, and by the end of the night, you realize you're the one who's breathless.
Before he took off for his tour, Bandwagon caught up with Jeff Satur once again to talk about what he's been up to these days following the release of Space Shuttle No.8, what he did to prepare for his shows, and the changes he's seen in himself through his evolution as an artist.
BANDWAGON TV
Hi, Jeff! How have you been doing?
I’m good, a little tired of course, but fired up!
It’s been less than six months since we last caught up with you, but a lot has has happened since then. From your participation in the Chinese reality show Call Me By Fire Season 3, to releasing your very first English single inspired by Valentino, and now, you’re a mentor on CHUANG ASIA. How have these different experiences helped shape you as a person and as an artist? How do your learning from these experiences translate into your music.
Oh, I am still learning new and different things everyday. Call Me By Fire put me under a lot of pressure to perform and keep my creativity, Black Tie taught me how to work with a world class brand and express their values through my eyes, CHUANG was a twist from participant to mentor. All these experiences make me the Jeff I am today.
You’re finally releasing your first full-length album, and going on tour across Asia. Can you share with us the preparations leading up for your first full Asia tour? What can fans expect at these shows?
I already have all the ideas in my head, but getting them out to the team and seeing them come to life has been so much fun. There have been a lot of meetings and Saturdayss can expect my full energy and attention and sing and dance along with me.
What was it like stepping onstage for your very first show on the tour? What has the tour experience been like so far?
It has been amazing! It’s always special to see the SATS in person and hear them singing along to all my songs. I can feel their love.
Space Shuttle No.8 is the title of your debut album. What’s behind the name?
Space Shuttle No.8 is like riding a train and watching a movie in a theater. Without a plot we can’t pause either experience; we can only feel the changing scenes when we are sitting still.

Throughout the years, you’ve worked with a bunch of collaborators whether on screen (in music videos) or behind the boards (producers), can you share with us the personnel for your new album?
Everything started from me but I had a great team to help bring everything to life—for example producers like Billy from Tilly Birds ('Ghost and Hide'), Hyuk Shin ('Almost Over You'), Max Saran ('Loop and Fade'), Ben LUSS ('Highway'), and Kritsada Vadeesirisak ('Complicated'). I also collaborated with great actresses in the music videos like Nene Zheng Naixin and Dana Slosar.
How do you think your songwriting has grown or shifted throughout the years?
Yes, definitely. I have been writing for 10 years and my writing has evolved in both the melody and content. It’s hard to describe, but it always starts with a melody for me. And they have gotten better the more I write and the more experiences I have.
In our last interview, you mentioned ‘Lucid’ as the favourite song you’ve written so far. What’s your favourite from this album?
I love every song, because they are all unique.
Your fans (Saturdayss) across the world have been waiting for you to visit them, what’s your message to your fans in Asia whom you will be seeing soon? How about your message to those you have yet to visit?
I can’t wait to see Saturdayss from all the cities we will be visiting, and for those not in Taipei, Manila, Hong Kong, and Jakarta, please be patient, I will see you soon!
