Jeff Satur's 'Space Shuttle No.8': a track-by-track guide

ESTIMATED

Jeff Satur is a creative mind with ideas that blossom into soft and dramatic songs perfect for a quiet night.

With his first full-length album Space Shuttle No.8, the Thai singer-songwriter and actor delivered 18 tracks born from his thoughts and experiences. The record may bear Satur's name on the cover, but it's also thanks to producers Billy from Tilly Birds, Hyuk ShinMax SaranBen LUSS, and Kritsada Vadeesirisak that the album bursts with so much emotion; Satur himself is grateful to his team for helping bring everything to life.

Jeff Satur talks debut album 'Space Shuttle No.8', preparations for first Asia tour: "Saturdayss can expect my full energy and attention"

"Space Shuttle No.8 is like riding a train and watching a movie in a theater," the 'Yellow Leaf' singer shares with Bandwagon in an interview. "Without a plot we can’t pause either experience; we can only feel the changing scenes when we are sitting still."

Bandwagon spoke with Jeff Satur to run through the tracks off Space Shuttle No.8, the stories behind each track, and the people who helped make his music come to life.

'Dum Dum' (Thai Version)

This is the track that introduced me to my alter ego—Mr. Sunshine. You will see more of him soon.

'Hide' (Thai Version)

This was my first time working with Billy [of Tilly Birds], he is a very experienced and talented producer and very detailed too. He managed to take the melody in my mind and add just the right amount of instrumentation to compliment my voice. “Baby it's youuuuuuuuuuuuuu.”

'Lucid' (Thai Version)

I produced this song myself while we were shooting Call Me By Fire and that’s around the time I met Nene.

'Loop' (Thai Version)

I got the idea for the concept of this song when I was taking a pee in the toilet. I really love the idea of us being stuck in a loop. Today is the tomorrow of yesterday. Isn’t it fun?

'Highway' (Thai Version)

This was my first single with Wayfer Records. When we launched this we called it “The New Chapter” in my career. We were right!

'Complicated' (Thai Version)

Complicated was produced by Kritsada Vadeesirisak, who is an electronic DJ, and he added many cool sounds.

'Ghost'

I am pleasantly surprised by the success of this track. We launched it two weeks before releasing the album. Please keep streaming it!

'Yellow Leaf'

This is the focus single for the album, and the music video’s story continues from 'Ghost'.

'Fade'

I was interested in the concept of how to forget something... How do we make ourselves forget? This is one of the first songs that I wrote the melody and lyrics too and produced with the help of P’ Max Saran. It’s also one of my most successful tracks to date.

'Black Tie'

This is the first song that I wrote purely in English. Usually the English versions would be translated from Thai. The song was inspired by the Valentino Black Tie collection and they provided all the costumes in the music video.

'Almost Over You'

We did this song in two hours with Hyuk Shin, a Korean producer based in Malaysia. It was magical to see what was in my head come to life so quickly and the result is nice.

Tracks 12, 13, 14, 15, 16 (English and Chinese versions)

We noticed lots of international fans since the first couple of tracks, and decided to create English versions of each track. The Chinese version for 'Fade' was because I needed to perform it on Call Me By Fire and since we had the Chinese lyrics, we decided to release it.

'Stranger' (Bonus Track)

This is actually a song I wrote for a musical play based on the movie Closer. It’s from the point of view from Dan.

'Saturdayss' (Bonus Track)

I wrote this track because I wanted to write a love song and needed someone to think about. And I obviously thought of my famclub, Saturdayss. So this is a love song to them.
