On Friday (13/08), the ‘Truth Hurts’ singer dropped 'Rumors' on streaming platforms. The track marks Lizzo’s first release in two years after her breakthrough third studio album Cuz I Love You.

The singer first teased about the release on 3 August, before confirming the rapper’s appearance on the single in an Instagram post on Monday (09/08). She also gave fans a sneak preview of the song in another Instagram post, before revealing the official cover art on Thursday (12/08).

‘Rumors’ is the follow-up to her third studio album Cuz I Love You, which generated hit singles ‘Truth Hurts’, and ‘Juice’. The album received two GRAMMY nominations including Album of the Year, winning Best Urban Contemporary Album, and ‘Truth Hurts’ scoring Best Pop Solo Performance, and received two more nominations including Record of the Year and Song of the Year.
This year, Cardi B released her single 'Up' in February, her follow-up to 2020's 'WAP'. She is also featured in Normani's new track 'Wild Side', released in July.
