Singnoy has come a long way since appearing on the first season of The Rapper Thailand in 2018.

The Thai rapper has since released a number of singles, his first EP สามช่ามหาสนุก, and most recently dropped 'Koraja Love,' a tribute to his historic hometown of Korat. Extremely proud of his heritage and culture, Singnoy aspires to be a hometown hero by taking his music across Thailand and beyond. "[My city,] rich in culture and beauty, inspires me to make songs that represent my hometown."

Ahead of his first-ever performance in Singapore at this year's AXEAN Festival, the 'Candy' act tells about pre-show rituals, creating music, and what else he wants to write about in the future.

How has your life changed since you participated in the Thai music competition The Rapper Thailand SS1? How did that change your approach towards making music and performing?

Life has changed a little, and I may have become more famous than before, but even now, I continue to create music and aim to improve my performance skills. I enjoy experimenting with new things.

What are your main sources of inspiration when writing a rap song?

The inspiration behind my rap music is the way of life, living life, finding love, and the passion for creating songs. I draw inspiration from storytelling, reading books, and creating motivation for those who love rap like me. I aspire to be the hometown hero of my birthplace, Korat. This city, rich in culture and beauty, inspires me to make songs that represent my hometown. My song, 'Koraja Love,' encourages people to visit Korat and showcases our culture, food, and local attractions to the world. I am proud to be Thai.

Performing at music festivals is obviously very different from rapping at a music competition or recording in the studio. How do you prepare yourself for a set at an event like AXEAN Festival?

I diligently practice, build confidence in myself, and always give my best in every show. I practice every day in front of the mirror to give the best performance on stage. Each concert is an explosion of energy, and I want to shine brightly this time as well.

Pre-show rituals: Before going on a stage, I have a ritual. I receive blessings from Thao Suranari (Thai: ท้าวสุรนารี) or Ya Mo, a sacred deity of my hometown. I also pay respect to my music teacher from Korat. These rituals bring good fortune and smoothness to my journey.

What kinds of stories do you hope to explore in your future releases?

I blend local music and strive not to segregate the world of music. I aspire to take hip-hop in various directions and to keep my culture alive and follow my own path.
