Mark your calendars, because you're going to want to be at the AXEAN Festival this October.

The annual regional music festival, happening on 28-29 October, will be bringing in artists from 10 countries across Southeast Asia and beyond, including the likes of Shye, Reality Club, The Itchyworms, KIKI, Oh Flamingo!, Jean Seizure, Flower.far, TANAYU, and many more.

Attendees can also expect to indulge in food and drink from regional vendors and even enjoy a weekend of music for a good cause.

Regional acts to watch out for

ena mori (Philippines)

Manila-based singer-songwriter ena mori has turned many heads in her direction with her catchy and dynamic pop tunes. Since her 2018 debut, the 'KING OF THE NIGHT!' act has released two full-length albums packed with stuck-in-your-head tracks and lyrics that will convince the shyest kid in the room to run free and feel joy.

Flower.far (Thailand)

Flower.far is a rising Thai singer, who has the ability to leave you swooning once you hear her soulful voice. She made her debut under YUPP! Entertainment in 2022 with her single 'Like A Fool'.

TANAYU (Indonesia)

Indonesian singer TANAYU digs deep into her soul to write thoughtful music that blends with her theatrical and artistic visuals. She released her first full-length record Love On Our Side, which features the album's eponymous track and 'Broken Party Girl' in July.

Shelhiel (Malaysia)

Award-winning Malaysian electro-pop singer-songwriter-producer Shelhiel has been making waves across the region. His distinct sound has taken him to perform at Good Vibes and Urbanscapes and opening for the likes of Tennyson, Hyukoh, Crystal Castles, and FKJ. Besides releasing his full-length album SUPERSTROBE, he previously produced SHIO's 'Extrication', the theme song for the Netflix series The Ghost Bride.

Helsinki Lambda Club (Japan)

Japanese New Alternative act Helsinki Lambda Club made their debut in 2014 with 'Helsinki Lambda Club no otooshi' under UK.PROJECT and have since released five records and a live concert album. Composed of Kaoru Hashimoto, Kodai Inaba, and Taiki Kumagai, the three-piece act knows how to deliver a killer show with their amusing performances.

Sophia Everest (Myanmar)

Burmese singer and actress Sophia Everest has been under the spotlight since 2016. The Myanmar Idol alum has gone above and beyond to deliver her music to as many listeners as possible. She released her solo debut NVM in 2017 and is known as the first female artist to top the Major M Local Top 30 Chart multiple times.

XTIE (Hong Kong)

Hong Kong-based singer-songwriter-producer XTIE is all about cosmic pop music that you could chill out to or bob along to on the dancefloor.


Homegrown acts to watch out for

ABANGSAPAU

Singapore-based Malay-Sikh rapper ABANGSAPAU wants to pull listeners away from a life of expectation or limitation through his comforting music.

motifs

Influenced by '90s shoegaze, post-punk, and dream pop, motifs may hypnotize you into their synth and guitar-driven music. The five-piece act, composed of Elspeth Ong, Jit Jenn Tan, Badrul Amin, Paul Yuen, and Jolin Chiam dropped their debut album Remember A Stranger in November last year.

Jean Seizure

Performing is in Jean Seizure's blood. From appearing on the theatre stage and singing to an audience of 6,000 at the Indoor Stadium as a child, the 'Night' singer has since taken on bigger roles in the music scene as a Spotify RADAR artist, an EQUAL ambassador for Singapore and Malaysia, and the first-ever Southeast Asia Spotify GLOW artist.

Shye

Singaporean electro-pop singer-songwriter Shye has been winning over hearts since she won the Vans Musicians Wanted competition in 2018. Five years down the road, she continues to broaden her dark electronic soundscape and bring more colour to the local music scene with her latest EP 9LIVES.

iNCH

iNCH has been all over the world. The Singaporean singer-songwriter and musician, known for her hits 'Wishful Thinking' and 'Mousedeer', found her passion for the arts, wild places, and technology early on and has won multiple international awards throughout her career.

Cicada (Taiwan)

Taiwan's Cicada was inspired by the insect they were named after and how people know its sound rather than what it looks like. The group, consisting of performers who wield a violin, cello, piano, and acoustic guitar, celebrated their 10th anniversary with 'Hiking in the Mist.'

What's a music festival without good eats? Together with Beer Village, expect nothing but the tastiest options from craft beer to international food vendors at AXEAN Festival to quench your thirst and keep you fueled to dance and mosh for hours. 

This year's craft beer vendors include Brewlander (Singapore), Burbrit Brewery (Myanmar), Paperkite (Malaysia), Off Day Beer Company (Singapore), Kultural (Indonesia), The 1925 Brewing Co. (Singapore), Lion Brewery Co (Singapore), and Samata
Brewing (Thailand), while Meatsmith SG, The Oyster Cart, and Blue Smoke will be serving up the dishes.


Tickets

Tickets to AXEAN Festival are on a pay-what-you-want/donation basis. You can pay as little as absolutely nothing to 100 SGD. It's your call! Every donation made will go to helping out the artists who'll be part of the 2-day show. There is also a 250% tax-deduction for donations over 100 SGD through FOUNDATION MUSIC to make the event accessible to as many music fans as possible.
